Yi-Wen Chen

Assistant Professor, Department of Nursing, National Sun Yat-sen University

My research focuses on child protection, with particular interests in abusive head trauma, the early recognition and prevention of child maltreatment, and trauma-informed care for foster children and caregivers. I am especially interested in developing practical, evidence-informed approaches that help healthcare professionals and caregivers better recognize and respond to the needs of vulnerable children, while bridging research, clinical practice, and education.

I welcome interdisciplinary collaboration and opportunities to exchange ideas with colleagues from different fields. If you share an interest in child protection, child maltreatment prevention, healthcare education, or related areas, I would be very happy to connect. A conversation, a question, or a new idea may be the beginning of our next collaboration.

Clinical competencies of healthcare professionals, validation of screening tools, and hospital-based case management for child protection teams.

Abusive head trauma

Instrument development and validation, nationwide epidemiology, and the effectiveness of parenting education and prevention programmes.

Trauma-informed care

How foster caregivers become trauma-informed practitioners, and cross-network collaboration in child and youth protection.
